Travelling the Roads of Iceland
If you are going to visit the beautiful country of Iceland, you will never get lost as long as you follow the road. This is because roads have been improved throughout the country in recent years, while freeways have been built in and around Reykjavik, which is the capital and chief port of the nation. Consequently, people here are dependent on their cars to travel when going to work, school or other appointments.
The road commonly termed as the Ring Road is the main road in the country that runs around the island and interconnects all inhabited parts. This has one lane in each direction, with an exception near larger towns and cities. Meanwhile, the main centre for international transport is the Keflavik International Airport, serving Reykjavik and the entire country.
