There are boat cruises that can take tourists around the lake for a closer encounter with the icebergs that float on the waters. The Eyjafjallajökull, meanwhile, is one of the smaller glaciers in the country. Still, it is noteworthy as its ice cap covers a volcano. This volcano has not erupted since 1823; however, it is still considered to be active. The Mýrdalsjökull glacier also has a volcano called Katla. Visitors can travel to see it using snow scooters or snow mobiles.
