The Culture in Iceland
Icelandic culture places a great emphasis on freedom and adventure. The country has a classless society with liberal beliefs, especially regarding gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues. Icelanders, as the country’s people are called, also take pride in their rich literary heritage.

Examples of Icelandic literary treasures are the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda, works that are considered to be classics of world literature. Iceland has a vibrant musical scene as well. Some of the country’s most famous musicians are Bjork, an avant-garde performer, and Sigur Ros, a post-rock band. These artists are also popular outside of their native country.
